Progress:
Hey there!
Have you ever wondered what occurs in our bodies on a daily basis? No, you do not have to be some body expert to know this! With my help, you should be somewhat hopefully know more about the body than you did before you read this blog! :) Don't worry, I thought it would take me forever but it was not that bad. Are you ready? Let's go!
So, as you may or may not know, we have 78 organs in our body. Honestly, if the number is greater than the number of fingers we have on both of our hands, then that number is way too big. Instead, I will focus on 5 of our most essential organs. The five are our brain, heart, kidneys, liver and lungs. Did you know that before I said, or in this case, wrote it?
Anyways, before I dig deep into these 5, I would like to throw out some random body facts to hopefully catch our attention!!
-Your nose can remember 50,000 different scents
-A human baby has over 60 more bones than an adult
-An average produced about 25,000 quarts of saliva in a lifetime, which is enough to fill 2 swimming pools
-We have tiny mites living in our eyelashes!
-Your ears and nose actually never stop growing
Have I convinced you now? No??
Well, did you know that when you are awake, the human brain produces enough electricity to power a small light bulb! I think this is the most interesting fact because I personally did not know this either!
Anyways, I should move onto the 5 most vital organs because I lose your attention!
First, let's talk about the brain.

Anyways, I should move onto the 5 most vital organs because I lose your attention!
First, let's talk about the brain.
Our brain is one of the most vital organs in our body because it produces our every thought, action, memory, feeling and experience of the world. Many people do not realize it but our brain can basically be divided into different parts because each section of our brain functions differently from the rest. It amazes me how these different parts can work together to create one single brain. An average adult brain weighs above pounds. Despite our hard skull, our brain is actually pretty fragile because it is made of soft tissue. That is why it is important to avoid head injuries. Other than that, our brain's duty is to receive impulses from our nerves in order to respond to pain and other stimulation. Our brain is so important but people disregard it when they do things that damage it!
Next up, our heart! No not this heart -> ❤ but our actual organ heart that is at the center of our chest (Although it is more to the left)! Most of us should be familiar about the part of our heart but it is alright if you are not. It is our heart's job to pump oxygenated blood throughout the body and receive deoxygenated blood back. Without our heart, our other organs would not receive oxygen or have carbon dioxide removed and this would be dangerous. Our heart is one of the most helpful organs, but it can also be a dangerous organ as it can cause heart attacks. That is why exercise is important as well as resting. We do not want to feel like our hearts are beating so fast it is about to explode but we also want to have our hearts beating so that it can pump blood. Our heart has 4 chambers. The two upper ones are called atrium (left and right) while the two bottom ones are called ventricles (left and right). The human heart is not that big either as it is about the size of an average fist. Our heart is one of the more smaller organs but it can be the one of the complex organs.
Our kidneys are next! There is more to them then just producing urine! Did you know our kidneys are under the rib cage in our lower back? Its job filter things out of our blood. For example, it can filter out water and salt. They also produce renin, which helps regulate our blood pressure.
It is true that humans can live with one filter, so that is why you may see people donating one of their kidneys to someone who truly needs it. It is sad that people usually neglect their kidneys, especially when it filters out the toxins in our body. That is why an alcoholic is at risk of kidney failure because the amount of alcohol they drink may be too much for their kidneys to handle at once!

We are almost there! Our liver is up next! What is a liver you say? A liver is the largest internal organ found in the upper abdomen slightly on the left. Its main job is to filter the blood coming from the digestive tract, before passing it to the rest of the body. The liver filters out toxins and regulates blood sugar as the liver converts sugars and stores them and releases them when more sugar is needed in the blood. It even releases cholesterol, breaks down fats, and produces blood proteins.
Think you learned enough about the body? Well, think again! The lungs are up last!

Last but not least...our lungs. Sadly, today in society, our lungs are the most damaged organ in our body because people smoke. Our lungs are the primary organs of respiration. They are found beneath our rib cage. It job is to take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide as our heart receives the unoxygenated blood. It is nice to see how well our body works together.
I think that not only are smokers damaging their lungs but also second hand smokers. Breathing in the smoke is just as bad as smoking first hand. People should realize that there are no benefits to smoking and this has been proven. Although it is hard to stop smoking for people who have become addicted to it, it is possible to smoke less and eventually stop. Smoking only reduces lives. It is awful that smoking used to be advertised as "cool" because it really is not. Nowadays, I see more anti-smoking advertisements but sometimes I feel as if those are not enough. I really wish people could stop smoking for a cleaner and safer environment.

Reflection:
Our body can be so complex sometimes it amazes me. I think it is interesting to see why we react the way we do to certain things. For example, why do we feel pain when we trip and fall? or burn ourselves? why do we get hungry and almost drool when we see something delicious? How does our body heal when we get sick? These are only a fraction of the questions I have about the human body. It amazes me about the wonderful things our body does that we do not even realize it.
We hear stories all over the news everyday bout people damaging and throwing their lives away. Unfortunately, they do not realize their body is one of the most extravagant things on earth. Our bodies are what makes us different from other animals, reptiles, and even insects but most people take it for granted.

Our bodies are so cool and function well. We can dance, jump, sit, lie down. We might as well call them "Super bodies." We can even basically shape shift. We can add weight as well as reduce fat. If you ask me, I think that is pretty cool! Even though our body does not have a mind of its own, I think it functions and reacts pretty well.
Society places an idea that a certain body type is considered the "perfect body" but I think that is wrong. I do not believe there is a such thing as perfect. This is the reason why we have so many problems in the world today. People cannot accept other people for who they are. I think that many people should learn to accept others for the way they look. All that matters is that the person is healthy and happy. We should not look down on people and tell them what they should or should not look like. There needs to be an increase in acceptance in society because I bet that we could reduce at least a half of the problems in society if everyone accepted each other for who they were. There should not be any discrimination or sexism based on someone's sex, race, or even opinions. Overall, I think everyone deserves equality! :-)
